Project Semaphore

source: BBCFollowing in the footsteps of the US, which will be implementing a ultra-sophisticated system called US-VISIT to keep tabs on visitors for security purposes, the UK has recently announced its plans for a smaller version - Project Semaphore.

Check out this article on the BBC website. According to the website, the system will target six million passengers a year travelling by air, on a number of international air routes, identified by the police as risky. This follows a recent announcement to implement biometric chips in british travel documents (in simple terms, its going to be a small chip containing unique physiological or behavioural characteristics of the person bearing the documents, for example, a photo of yours).
