Woman set to break Army brass ceiling

source: bharat-rakshak.comThis is the start of a new era for the woment of today - the next step. The 50 something Punita Arora is all set to make history by donning the highest ever rank worn by a female in the indian army - Lt. General (See more about ranks in the indian army). A Lt. General is post below the three service chiefs.

Major-General Punita Arora, who joined the Army Medical Corps as a doctor in 1968, will become the first woman Lt-Gen in India next month when she takes over as commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) at Pune (a city near mumbai, india). This would certainly be not the first honour she's got - she already holds 15 medals and a Vishishta Seva medal in her 36-year long career.

I guess this is a day for all feminists to rejoice ! Way to go general ! salute !
