'Toxic ship' docks in Indian port

One more victory for commerce over common-sense. I am referring to the french ship SS France that docked yesterday with the port of Alang in Gujrat (western India). The Indian supreme court recently cleared its entry into Indian waters for being broken down.

Its a shame that our law permits environment hazards float into India waters. Environmental groups say the ship contains 1,200 tonnes of cancer-causing toxic waste, which the workers at Alang - the world's biggest breaking yard - are not equipped to handle.
